Oops, He Did It Again

Remember when Ty was in first grade and he went camping with his grandparents? He fell off that piece of playground equipment and broke his left arm. My FIL captured it all on his camera.

Well as you may have guessed by the title of this post, he did it again. Similar piece of playground equipment but this time it was his right arm. Luckily for us they casted it very well and he's still able to write. And I paid the little bit extra to have the waterproof Gore-Tex in there this time so at least the five weeks of cast time won't be as painful as the last time.

Cheers!

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came...

The staff at the urgent care center in Elverson are starting to recognize and remember us I think. Soon they'll be calling child protective services on me... Either that or dedicating a room just for my family.

Yep, you read that right. We paid another visit to urgent care. G broke her thumb. It's a nondisplaced fracture of her left thumb which means it isn't knocked out of position so we didn't have to rush right over to the ortho. She's splinted up and I have to get her an appointment for next week.

Want to guess how she did it? Girl on sled, sled on thumb. *sigh*

Superior Timing

We're about half way through basketball season. Mid-terms are starting on Wednesday. What better time to have a severe sprain of your right wrist?

S3 spent the weekend at his friends' house skating. He came home around 11 PM on Saturday swollen and purple. He didn't want to tell his friend's mom because she would have made them stop skating so he and I spent Sunday morning at urgent care. The doc there said he was pretty sure it was a sprain and not a growth plate fracture so they splinted him up and sent us home. He's not allowed to skate or play basketball for two weeks. He was pretty ok with everything until on the ride home he realized that the air-hockey championships are this week and he's in the lead. Now he won't be able to play. Yeah, that's what we should be most upset about.

Always Look On the Bright Side of Life

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.

When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

If life seems jolly rotten

There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.

So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath

Life's a piece of $&#!
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.

And always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...

Thank You Eric Idle!

Now that I'm done singing, here's a top-ten "What Good Has Come of the Paint Incident:"
10. In a state of utter frustration and disquiet, I blurted out something to Steve that has been bothering me for months. We dealt with it and I feel peaceful and happy again.

9. After cleaning windows, curtains and slipcovers last week and now the carpets this week, my downstairs is about as thoroughly clean as it has ever been at any one time.

8. When I was cleaning a pile of clutter in the corner of my dining room to get ready to clean the carpets, I found my favorite stitching snippers! Hurrah!

7. I learned new things such as, if you have carpet cleaning solution on your hands, do not rub your eye no matter how itchy it is.

6. The paint pretty much all came up!

5. E and I couldn't be confined to the upstairs all day yesterday so we had to go out shopping. We spent the whole day in AC Moore.

4. Since we had nowhere to sit and eat we had to go out to lunch and dinner.

3. I got Steve to admit it's time for new flooring and he's considering my request for hardwood - either to refinish what I know is under the carpet or to put down a new floor.

2. The whole thing makes for a good story.

And the Number One "Good That Has Come of the Paint Incident" is........

1. We think the area where the paint was dumped looks the cleanest of both carpets and we're considering dumping paint everywhere else next week.
