Y4T Presents: After the Rapture
This video was made to demonstrate what it might be like for those who are "left behind" after the rapture occurs. Every Wednesday I make a quick video to help the teens in our youth group Y4T (Youth 4 Truth) understand the message they're being taught either by Pastor Eric or by Steve. You'll recognize the first kid. He belongs to me. The second section of teens stealing my car are Pastor Eric's kids. Hope you enjoy!

KCEAA Jr. High Competition

Check out my boy in his tux. The girl with him is my friend Amy the Pampered Chef Lady's daughter.
Below are two minute clips of the four songs they performed. I don't remember the names of all of them but one they sang was Amazing Grace. S3 was all excited for me to come listen because during a section of the song, they sing a cappella and he thought it sounded really cool.
Personally I was most impressed with the handbells. I was at the completely wrong angle to see S3 but he's on the right hand corner of the "U"

The Man My Sister Married
Jer has been torturing my sister for nearly 12 (I think) years but this time he filmed the entire thing and posted it on YouTube for our enjoyment. I laughed so hard I cried. I'm so glad I get to call him brother. BTW, his mom is just as fantastic (after all she did raise Jer!) and she has a blog too.

The Way In the Wilderness
Ty had his fourth grade Chapel program today and I managed to not sleep through it this time (poor Grace). They did a little skit of Moses being placed in the Nile as a baby and then they did a second skit of Moses after he'd led the Israelites out of Egypt. Ty was in the second skit as an Israelite. I did film the entire second skit and it is available to watch - all seven minutes of it - on YouTube.com and it is rather funny at times but I clipped just a small piece of it for you guys.
First a couple of pictures. The pillar of fire was awesome; it glowed from within. Ty is off to the far right.

Afterward I took a pic of Ty (left) and two of his buddies. When I looked closer at the pic I had to laugh at the kid in the background beating the papier-mâché rock the minute the show was over.

Ok, ok so here's the video.

Sweeny Sister
Actually, my sister got roped into singing at my grandfather's assisted living community the other day - go read her blog about the details, it's pretty funny - and then her husband recorded the show when it aired on TV. He has been threatened not to show the video but he and I decided at dinner the other night that no one said that I could not share the video with the entire world, or at least the piece of it who visits my blog. I'm having trouble getting the whole file to download at the moment however so you'll have to click the link rather than just watching on YouTube. Sorry. I'll edit later if I can ever get it to work for me.

Christmas Concert 2006
G, Ty and S3 had their school concert on Friday. I tried to pick their three best songs and keep the clips under 20 seconds each. Here's the highlights video:

Apple Red Happiness
You'll have to forgive me for all the posts at one time. There was a lot going on this weekend and I didn't get a chance to post as things were happening so there is a half a week's worth of updates all in one day!
Every year on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving our church holds a praise service and this year G, E and Ty decided they wanted to sing. I made them practice but other than that, they picked the song and they separated out the different parts. At one point Ty messed up and sang when G was supposed to be solo (in the video you can see she giggles a little) and I guess when she looked around she saw the congregation smiling and laughing a little - not because of the mess up but because they were just so darn cute. Anyway after the song was over and she was back in her seat next to me she burst into tears. I think some of it was stress - she used to cry after her soccer games too - but she told me she thought everyone was laughing at them for messing up. I actually had to take her to the bathroom to help her settle down. Poor little baby!
And as a total aside, if you look behind the kids you can see the back wall I painted a few years back. It's my favorite faux finish of all that I've ever painted.

Mr. Fix-It
Ty is Mr. Fix-It. The kid has been performing small home repairs since he was about two years old when he took his sister's doorknob off her door. I used to have to hide the screwdrivers from him. When G was born, Ty was about 18 months old. My mother came to the hospital to visit and when she sat in the rocker with G, it wouldn't move. Ty got down on his hands and knees and it took him less than 15 seconds to figure out what the problem was. He could barely talk but he fixed the rocking chair at the hospital.
So yesterday Ty and I went to my sister's house so she could demonstrate to us how clever the Navajo are in the way they spin and ply yarn (it's very cool!). I took my camera so that we could watch the video before he has to give his oral report. The theory is that it'll keep the information fresh in his brain. For the purposes of speed (she had a monkey to get back to), Mel was using a regular wheel to demonstrate rather than a drop spindle so it wasn't exactly the same way the Navajo would have done it, but we got the jist.
I managed to catch a Mr. Fix-It moment on video. Keep in mind he's never seen a spinning wheel before.

Fall Soccer 2006
This is the definition of an insane soccer mom. I spent hours making this. It's about four minutes long.
Highlight from G's Sunday Game
I thought G must have been cold on Sunday because she is usually a tearin' up the field, non-stop, pushing, shoving, ball hog, aggressive girl but yesterday she was way more sluggish than usual. All that aside, my girl can take a hit. Check her out.
Being a girl ROCKS!

S3 vs. Calvary

Had another game out inTimbuktu tonight. The boys ended up losing 2 -1 in the 37th minute (keep in mind they play 25 minute halves). It was tied most of the game but lost due to a penalty kick. The kid from Calvary had a beautiful shot. Unfortunately my camera batteries gave out around the 30th minute. G & E's bladders gave out around the 23rd minute.
Only one more game and S3's season is over. He tells me he has signed up for basketball.

On the ride home, someone asked for the light to be turned on. In the rear view mirror out of the corner of my eye I saw E coming up with a very handy little trick to reach the overhead light.
